Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with Hydraulics design experience required for an Engineering Design and Manufacturing organisation in Hertfordshire; possible commute from parts of London, Barnet, Enfield, Watford, Hemel, Luton, Wycombe.  The role would suit Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with aspiration to Technical Director level.  What is key is the mix of technical strength and character fit due to the size and nature of the organisation.  The company have a design office and Machine Tool workshop with approx 15 personnel including 10 engineers and this environment needs someone who can provide conceptual design but is also happy to utilise archive drawings for re-design of an original idea (archives date to pencil drawing times).  They operate in all industry requiring Hydraulics but are currently active in Automotive, Aerospace, Defence (Military) to name but a few.
Overview responsibilities: Mechanical Design Engineer *To undertake design of hydraulic cylinders and associated components; *Mechanical component and assembly detail design including machining drawings and design calculations. *Generation of drawings, parts lists, assembly instructions, materials (specifications, bar/billet/tube sizes), subcontract process procedures (welding, coating, etc). *Maintain design records. *Providing technical support for the sales team. *Experience of detail design for a small batch machine shop *Trouble shooting and advising shop floor with regard to manufacturing processes, assembly and testing. *AutoCAD and Inventor experience preferred. *Knowledge of hydraulics an advantage. *Relevant degree or extensive relevant experience to outweigh qualification
